Reporting Absences

Absences

All absences are reported using the Arbor Parent Portal or the Arbor App.

Absences must be reported on Arbor before 9:30am on each day your child is absent. Please note: Absences can only be reported on the day of the absence. They cannot be reported the night before or for a future date.

When reporting an absence, it is essential that you clearly state your child’s symptoms. Reports such as “not well” or “unwell” cannot be accepted and will not be recorded as a valid reason.

Providing clear information helps us record absences accurately. Examples of acceptable reasons include:

  • High temperature and sore throat
  • Vomiting overnight
  • Diarrhoea
  • Migraine or headache
  • Cough or cold symptoms

If a clear symptom is not provided, the school will contact home for clarification.

If we do not receive an absence notification, the school will contact you to check on your child’s welfare. If we are unable to make contact or receive a response, we will follow our attendance and safeguarding procedures, which may include escalating the concern in line with safeguarding guidance. This process is in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children.

You can also report by emailing

absence@stfrancis.surrey.sch.uk - Absence, medical appointments and lateness ONLY

In cases of vomiting and/or diarrhoea, children are kept at home for 48 hours after the last episode before they return to school. This is to ensure we minimise the spread of any illness within the school.
