SEND

SEND Statement

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.” (1 Corinthians 12:4)

At St. Francis Catholic Primary School, we are committed to recognising the dignity, worth and unique gifts of every child, as each is made in the image and likeness of God. Guided by our faith, we nurture a community of inclusion, compassion and respect, where all pupils are supported to flourish academically, socially and spiritually.

We believe that we are all teachers of SEND. Every member of staff shares responsibility for identifying and supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring that high-quality teaching meets the needs of all learners. Through collaboration, understanding and a commitment to inclusive practice, we strive to remove barriers to learning and participation.

Our approach to SEND provision is structured around the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle, ensuring that support is carefully tailored, regularly monitored and continuously improved:

  • Assess: Identifying pupils’ specific needs through observation, assessment and discussion with families and relevant professionals.
  • Plan: Setting clear, achievable targets and identifying appropriate strategies and support.
  • Do: Implementing the agreed support as part of high-quality teaching, with staff working closely together.
  • Review: Evaluating progress and impact, and adapting provision to ensure the best possible outcomes.

In partnership with parents, carers, the parish and external agencies, we aim to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.

What is the Local Offer?

From Sept 2014, Surrey County Council must provide a Local Offer for young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

It is where you will find information and services in one place. There are details of services that are available within the local are and how to access them as well as services that are not in our local area but that you may also be able to access.

The Equality Act can be seen here.
