Respect - Reflect - Achieve - Grow
Religious Education (RE) in our school is based on the Gospel Values and teachings of the Catholic Church. We aim to be a welcoming community of faith and to develop amongst our pupils a strong awareness of the spiritual dimensions of life and to equip them with Christian values which will guide them throughout their lives. We value and maintain strong links with our Parents, Carers and Parish who support us in the education of their children. Our Mission Statement and aims encompasses our vision for the school.
Our Mission Statement can be found here.
The RE Policy can be found here.
The 2025-2026 RE Whole School Overview can be found here.
At St Francis, our primary intent in teaching Religious Education is to respect, reflect, achieve and grow together. We want our children to develop knowledge, understanding, reflection skills, analysis and religious experiences. In our Catholic community, we intend for our children to gain a wide range of experiences to build their sense of belonging alongside their individual faith.
We aim to enable the children to be active participants in RE through our curriculum as well as our whole school worship, Masses and celebrations. These all allow our children to feel they are an important part of our school community.
In line with the stipulation of the Bishop's Conference of England and Wales, the school spends 10% of the teaching week on Religious Education.
