Music

"A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person. And a good Catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints." – Pope Benedict XVI, 2010

At St Francis, music is a vibrant and integral part of our curriculum, ensuring that every child receives engaging and enriching musical education. Our music lessons promote essential motor skills, communication, creativity and teamwork, all while fostering a lifelong love of music.

We believe progress in music is the widening and deepening of knowledge, skills, understanding, and learning behaviours. Through practical exploration, children develop their ability to perform, compose, and appreciate music using singing, untuned percussion, glockenspiels, keyboards, recorders, and ukuleles.

Music unites our school community. Throughout the year, pupils celebrate the Catholic faith through hymns in class liturgies, assemblies, and Mass services, fostering a sense of belonging and shared values.

Children are encouraged to showcase their talents through a variety of local events, concerts, productions and performances both within and beyond the school community.
