Curriculum

At St Francis' we provide a broad and balanced curriculum and follow the National Curriculum. The subjects covered are:

Our Reception Classes cover all the Specific and Prime Areas as specified for Early Years and Foundation Stage (EYFS) and children work towards attaining their Early Learning Goals and therefore, a Good Level of Development (GLD) 

Phonics and Reading: We teach synthetic phonics through the Letters and Sounds Programme. Children learn to read through the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme - Floppys Phonics, and Biff. Chip and Kipper books. Additional texts supplement our reading scheme and we have a large infant and junior library to support reading. We actively encourage families to volunteer to read with children.
